El fotografo aleman, Thomas Demand, se puede considerar un genero aparte, partiendo de imagenes de lugares publicos tomadas de la prensa, Demand construye sus escenarios con carton y papel para luego fotografiarlos. Todas sus imagenes son fotografias de estos escenarios los cuales destruye luego de la fotografia.

German photographer, Thomas Demand, has established himself on a league of his own. He first takes images of common places from the mass media and then reconstructs the places with cardboard and paper. After photographing the sets he then destroys them, leaving only the photograph as proof.

Sinopsis:el taller busca introducir a los participantes al manejo de la camara manual, conceptos de composicion, iluminacion, e indagar en las distintas disciplinas de la fotografia contemporanea, como el paisaje, la foto documental, y el retrato. El enfoque principal esta en identificar areas de interes en la fotografia y desarrollarlos.

Summary/The students will be asked and stimulated to look around there own universe, investigate their personal interests, their background. We will work with stories that happen or can be created around us everyday, to discover the possibilities to develop a personal photo project in our own “backyards”. Good histories and projects are everywhere it’s the photographer’s ability of seeing that counts.

To do so, we will investigate the work of some landmark photographers that didn’t have to go away from home to work. We will see how they develop their projects, finding symbolism and great stories on everyday objects and the landscape around them. After that each student will be asked to work on a personal project during the two weeks of the course. We will analyze the work, investigate how light, the photographers approach to the subject, technical aspects, presentation and editing can help develop a strong body of work. Students are also welcome to bring their current portfolios and projects to share with the group and to be analyzed.

Workshop by Felipe Russo

Felipe Russo is a photographer, founder of agency Amanajé Fotografia and a professor of history of photography at Panamericana Escola de Arte de Design em São Paulo, Brazil. At first Felipe studied Biology and Landscape Ecology. The photographer traveled to France where he studied photography at Speos-Paris- and was an intern t Magnum Photos. Now back to São Paulo, where he lives and works, he publishes in national and international publications while develops his personal projects. Now represented by the Galeria de babel www.galeriadebabel.com next to Alec Soth, Martin Parr, Luis Gonzales Palma and others.

Sinopsis/Se les pedirá a los alumnos hacer un análisis de su entorno para investigar temas de interés y temas de fondo. Se trabajara con historias que se pueden crear o que suceden todos los días en nuestros alrededores para descubrir las posibilidades de desarrollar un proyecto de foto en nuestro entorno. Las buenas historias y proyectos pueden ser creadas desde cualquier lugar, pero es la habilidad del fotógrafo de observación la que hace la diferencia.

Se revisara el trabajo de varios fotógrafos que han hecho grandes proyectos en sus lugares natales. Veremos cómo han desarrollado sus series, los simbolismos en las mismas y las historias que cuentan. Luego se le pedirá a cada estudiante que trabaje en un proyecto personal durante el taller. Se les incita a los estudiantes a traer sus portafolios y fotografías para compartirlas y analizarlas con la clase.

Felipe Russo

Fotógrafo fundador de la agencia Amanejè Fotografía y profesor de historia de la fotografía en la Escuela de Arte y Diseño Panamericana en Sao Paulo, Brasil. Felipe es licenciado en Biología y Ecología. El fotógrafo viajo a Francia donde estudia fotografía en la reconocida escuela Speos, en Paris, donde trabaja un interinato para la Agencia Magnum Photos. Ahora vive y trabaja en Sao Pablo, donde publica su trabajo internacionalmente, y desarrolla sus proyectos personales.Ahora es representado por la Galeria de Babel www.galeriadebabel.com junto a Alec Soth, Martin Parr, Luis Gonzalez Palma entre otros.

    Nacio en 1979, en Sao Pablo, Brasil. Despues de estudiar ecologia y conservacion del medio ambiente, Felipe Russo, a travez de su fotografia indaga en la relacion del hombre con el medio ambiente. Realizo sus practicas en la agencia Magnum en Paris y dedica su tiempo para hacer proyectos personales.Ahora es representado por la Galeria de Babel www.galeriadebabel.com junto a Alec Soth, Martin Parr, Luis Gonzalez Palma entre otros.


    Born in 1979, Sao Paulo Brazil a city that is till his home and source of inspiration photographer Felipe Russo studied Biology specializing in Landscape Ecology and Conservation. From this working as a researcher he brings his interest in man and his relationship with his environment. Felipe had the oportunity to work at Magnum Photos in Paris as an intern, and today he dedicates most of his time for personal projects.
